I had the best birthday today. #Howdidigetsolucky
But seriously.
Because today is a Friday and I only work 4 hours on Fridays I got to have a lazy morning. I woke up with out an alarm this morning, talked to my mom, lounged, vacuumed the upstairs, cleaned the bathroom, ran 2 miles, showered and browsed the internet. I was my perfect morning.
I got to work at 12:30 to find incriminating photos of me spread throughout the building. Okay, they weren't too bad, but they were all old pictures. But it was funny/fun to have everyone walk into the building and wish me a happy birthday. Even a mother who had to call back about something after she left was like "Aimee, happy birthday, I'm sorry I didn't say it to you while I was there" Anyway, thoughtful. And my supervisor bought my a pepper plant, because we all know flowers are wonderful but for a budding chef peppers are more practical, and the plant is still adorable. But don't think I don't like getting flowers, my wonderful husband brought me a vase of GORGEOUS flowers to work and he brought me lunch too. And he doesn't know what zinnias are, but the bouquet is full of them, and its perfect for me. And then to wish another employee goodbye there was a delicious cake in the office today too. (Which means I ate way to much food today - #butitsmybirthdayandiwilldowhatiwant)
I came home from work to a cutely decorated house #seriouslynateissuperman even with a couple balloons outside and a banner and balloons inside. With my presents wrapped. Too make the day even better I signed up for this foodie package exchange thing and mine arrived today. But the reveal is in a couple weeks so I won't tell you what I got yet. And then I opened a present from my parents and got pizookie pans. 5 inch pans. I love pizookies like, they are maybe #myfavoritedessertever and I can't wait to perfect making them at home.
And then I opened my gifts from Nate. Have I told you how thoughtful he is? He got me 2 books, a candy making book for dummies, which I am so excited to try yummy things like truffles and fudges and caramels and more and share them on the blog. And a candy mold to make homemade reeses (or at least that's the shape - but I could make a lot of other things in it too). And then a food photography book, which is awesome, because I am getting much better but I still need more ideas on fixing lighting and food styling and what to focus on and I love taking pictures of my food. And solar lights to put outside in our backyard so we can hang out there at night. And a tripod - a most gorgeous tripod that I have ever seen in my life and I am so excited to get better at all kinds of photography and I really want to take our own family photos now.
And then we had friends over. I thought of my closest couple friends (meaning dating or married) and invited them (sorry if I forgot someone!) and almost everyone was able to come. And we had delicious hamburgers and hotdogs and chips and soda and I'm so thankful to everyone for coming but also for helping bring sides and drinks and buns so we didn't have to spend quite as much money #poormarriedcouplebudget And I absolutely loved catching up with friends that I hadn't seen in 2 or 6 or 8 or 12 months. And I hope that it is not that long till I see them again.
And then for dessert Nate made the most immaculate, tastiest, prettiest, best cake I have ever had in my life. A chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and a chocolate ganache. Seriously perfectly moist. And the peanut butter frosting was amazing. And the cake was amazing, and rich, but not too rich. And the best cake ever. And I am definitely making him share that recipe on the blog because it is one you will definitely want to make.
And we just visited with friends for a couple hours and it was perfect. And now I am about to go snug #myadorablehandsomeperfecthusband and go to bed. #theperfectend to a #perfectday
Pictures to come soon.
